About Ashford Hospital
As one of the largest private hospitals in Adelaide, Ashford Hospital is considered a centre of excellence and has been servicing the South Australian community for over 70 years.
The hospital was founded in 1950 when the local councils of Marion, Mitcham, Unley and West Torrens came together to establish what began as Ashford Community Hospital. The council names continue to be acknowledged as the names of the wards within the hospital.

1998 - The opening of the first private cardiac angiography suite
1990 - The opening of the first private Intensive Care Unit
1991 - The first private hospital to perform cardiac bypass surgery
2008 - Alexander Theatre complex opening
2015 – Introduction of robotic technology
2020 - Completion of a $34.6m hospital redevelopment
